Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) takes a basic BT phone line and turns it into a permanent, high speed digital Internet connection, without the cost implications of having a separate dedicated line installed. It splits the line in two, so you can continue to make phone calls, but you can also log on to the Internet, send e-mails and transfer data.
Bulk users, ISP Partners, and any Corporate or Public Sector customer requiring DSL-based VPN services or DSL contention ratios better than 20:1 should consider our ADSL Broadband (DataStream) product.
Speeds shown are maximum IP throughput; actual speed will always be less due to the impact of framing and other overheads. Actual download speed experienced by the end user / consumer of the service will depend on a number of factors. In addition to throughput constraints caused by contention, the actual download speed is also affected by the performance of the user's equipment, web server speed and user load, upstream internet congestion, etc. These factors are outside of Cortel's control.
